Care Plus Solutions’ history dates back to April 27, 1971, in the conference room of The Alcoholism Council of Greater Los Angeles. Here, the founder of Care Plus Solutions, Inc. (then known as Donald Sandin & Associates, Inc.), Donald Sandin, among other professionals in the “Occupational Alcoholism Program” instituted the organization now known as EAPA (Employee Assistance Professionals Association). Donald was an Executive Committee member and was an institutional force in the birth of the field of Employee Assistance.

Since the inception of Donald Sandin & Associates in 1973, the field of Employee Assistance has expanded and flourished. In 1997, Donald’s historic company was purchased by Robert Baldino, LCSW SAP, who had worked under Mr. Sandin for many years. In the years that followed, Care Plus Solutions received local and national awards for their quality from such organizations as the NJ Psychological Association, Institute of Health and Productivity Management (IHPM) and the Employee Assistance Professionals Association (EAPA).

Robert helped Care Plus Solutions achieve respectable growth during his tenure, by way of client company reach, reputation, EAP provider relations, and internal staffing needs. Ian Nussbaum, LSW, SAP, who had worked for Robert for six years, purchased Care Plus Solutions in 2021. Since then, Care Plus Solutions has gone from a regional EAP, to a National one. In 2025, Care Plus Solutions acquired another historic company, Balance EAP, and their small business product, Thrive EAP, 2-50 Employees. Care Plus Solutions now reaches client companies in 45 out of 50 U.S. States.

Care Plus Solutions prides itself on presence, knowledge and experience, and accountability. Now in our 53^rd year in business, Care Plus Solutions has established itself as the EAP for small and mid-size businesses.
